Side Lying Posterior Capsule Stretch

After many requests here’s an example of the posterior capsule stretch.

To effectively stretch the upper and middle posterior capsule, a position of 30 degrees of elevation in the scapular plane with internal rotation was determined as more effective.

    There are some videos on youtube that explain this better. Appparently it is pretty important to keep your back staright and pinch your shoulder blades back to stabilize the scapulae:

    Not the same stretch.

    The research that the photo above is based on showed that the posterior capsule does not come under tension in the way it’s described in the video. Arm position should be approximately 30 degrees in the scapular plane with internal rotation to achieve statistically significant tension in the upper and middle portions of the posterior capsule. The form recommended in the video produced no strain on the posterior capsule.
